The Cold Pod has a diameter of 75cm and a height of 75cm. This holds 320L water of water and has a net weight of 3.5kg.

The only difference between the Cold Pod and the Cold Pod XL is the diameter. Our standard Cold Pod is 75cm wide whilst the XL caters for those who are taller, of a bigger build or those that just want a bit of extra room with a 90cm diameter.

The Cold Pod has a diameter of 75cm and a height of 75cm. This holds 320L water of water and has a net weight of 3.5kg.

The Cold Pod XL has a diameter of 90cm and a height of 75cm. This holds 440L water of water and has a net weight of 5.1kg.

The Cold Pod is made up of 4 layers – a PVC layer, one of pearl foam and a layer of Nylon fabric coated with PVC which acts as a dual layer.

The support legs are made of plastic.

The top ring of the Cold Pod is the only section that is inflatable. Once the Cold Pod has been emptied, you can remove the support legs and deflate the top ring in order to fold and store this away for when you next want to set it up.

The Cold Pod is easy to assemble/disassemble however each time you want to use this, you would need to refill and drain the water. This is a factor to bear in mind.

Those who are taller or of larger build may prefer our Cold Pod XL to provide them with additional room to submerge and be comfortable too.

Our products are designed as a portable ice bath. With this in mind, we do use the strongest materials available, and these are quadruple layered for maximum thermal insulation however, there is only so much insulation we can add to our pods to ensure they are not too bulky for transportation.

We understand that depending on the set up of the Cold Pod, it can sometimes require a lot of ice to get the temperature you require. With this in mind, we have a few helpful tips that might help.

  • Using reusable ice blocks or large frozen bottles of water. These can be added pre-dip and then re-frozen after saving money and time.
  • Purchasing a chiller that can be used in conjunction with the ice bath if you plan to keep this in a designated place. We are currently designing our own chiller that we hope to have ready in the next few months.
  • We have also had customers that have added their own insulation to their Cold Pod to better maintain the temperature of the water however, we understand that this isn’t ideal for everyone.

These points have helped our customers Worldwide from the warmest to the coldest areas.

When you order a Cold Pod, you will receive the following in the box:

  • 1 x Cold Pod with drain tap
  • 1 x Insulated Cover
  • 6 x Support Legs
  • 1 x Pump
  • 1 x Drain Hose
  • 1 x Carry Bag
  • 1 x User Manual

If you order the Cold Pod XL this will come with all the same items except you will receive the Cold Pod XL instead of the standard and you will also have a total of 8 support legs.

Unfortunately, our Cold Pods do not produce ice. The Cold Pod is a portable ice bath that would need to have ice and water added to it to be able to use it for it’s intended purpose.

We wouldn’t recommend putting a stool inside the Cold Pod as any sharp edges could cause damage to the lining of the pod.

We found customers were experiencing water pooling on top of their lid for the Cold Pod so we have now added a mesh filter within this. This allows for rainwater to pass through preventing sagging, but keeps debris out.

Many of our customers find that placing an inflatable beach ball in the water helps to raise the cover to prevent the water pooling on the lid too.

If you have an older style cover, you can purchase our new one here.

If ever you have a problem with a product of ours, we would recommend getting in touch with us directly straight away so we can investigate this for you. Please contact our friendly customer service team onhello@thecoldpod.com.

A study published in 2016 found that water temperature between 11 and 15°C and an immersion time of between 11 and 15 minutes was optimal (Machado et al. 2016).

We would recommend starting the temperature slightly warmer and then gradually decreasing the temperature and extending the duration as your body becomes accustomed to the colder climate.

Many of our customers use Epsom Salts within their Cold Pod for many reasons. For some, this provides an additional element of relaxation as well as providing some potential health benefits.

It is believed these can also help to prevent water from freezing if the external temperature is too cold which is useful for our customers in colder parts of the world.

WARNING: Do not add Epsom Salts to your water if you are using other treatments in there such as Bromine or Chlorine as this can cause flash burns.

It is recommended that guidance for water management be followed where appropriate.

The volume of water, operating temperature, location of the pool (e.g. outside) and bather loads all contribute significantly to water quality, which means that disinfection is essential for maintaining standards in ice baths.

Water in spa pools should be free from irritant substances, chemicals and infectious agents at levels which may be harmful to health. For information and advice relating to the clean water management of your ice bath, advice can be found in document HSG282 – The control of legionella and other infectious agents in spa-pool systems, produced by the Health & Safety Executive. This document details the management of water, chemical treatments and cleaning.

It is recommended that water, if kept in the ice bath, be regularly tested for quality, or seek advice from a water-treatment professional, who may recommend a Chlorine treatment, which takes longer to react in cold water and ensure the correct does is used.

Further information can also be found in “HSG274pt2” and “Guidance on the operation and use of small swimming pools“.

We recommend cleaning every 2 weeks. Simply empty the water and rinse/wash the Cold Pod with warm soapy water and wipe dry with a soft, clean cloth.

It is not essential to purchase a filter for the Cold Pod however, you may wish to invest in one to keep your water fresher for longer.

The Cold Pod has a dual drain system. You can either drain the water by undoing the plug in the base of the Cold Pod. Alternatively, you can turn the valve to “open” and allow the water to empty through the drain tap.

Whilst the Cold Pod does not have designated outlets for a chiller, we have had many customers set up a chiller with theirs. We are currently in the process of developing our own chiller which we hope to have available in the next few months.

We recommend cleaning every 2 weeks. Simply empty the water and rinse/wash the Cold Pod with warm soapy water and wipe dry with a soft, clean cloth.

Unfortunately, the lid does not lock. It has a drawstring so you can pull this tight. However this will not be “childproof”, so we recommend keeping young children away or supervising them when they are in the vicinity.

The only running cost for the Cold Pod is the cost of the water to fill this and if you need to buy bags of ice. This cost will vary depending on how much ice you need to get to your desired temperature and how often you refresh the water in the pod.

Of course! We do not sell one specifically, but a separate ice making machine would help reduce the time/cost of buying or making ice.

We also have customers that use ice blocks or large frozen bottles of water as opposed to ice cubes. These are a great reusable option.

The Cold Pod can withstand temperatures up 60°c. Please ensure water has cooled fully to a safe temperature before entering the Cold Pod.

If you would like to attach an alternative hosepipe to the drain tap, you will need a ½” male thread adaptor. We usethis one.
